Karina Onofre State Assembly Candidate calls for Task Force to bring LA Clippers to Orange County!!!
74th State Assembly candidate Karina Onofre announces formation of a broad-based task force to immediately prepare a proposal to bring beleaguered LA Clippers to a new Orange County home
Irvine, California Monday May 5, 2014
California State Assembly candidate Karina Onofre called to form a blue-ribbon committee to lure NBA Clippers basketball franchise from Los Angeles to Orange County. Said Onofre, an Orange County business owner and Democratic candidate, “Without any delay, I want to bring together a creative, think-outside-the-box Orange County active community team, to turn today’s problems into possibilities for tomorrow’s success.”
Continued Onofre, “I believe the Clippers are an up-and-coming franchise and have the potential to advance far in the NBA Playoffs. But shocking revelations about Clippers’ owner, Donald Sterling, who talked about the color of people’s skin rather than the team players’ character, winning-mentality, skills, or talents, have hurt the team, hurt Los Angeles, and hurt California. Imagine the immense benefit to bring the Clippers to a new Southland home, in Orange County?!!! If they accept our invitation, originating out of respect and admiration for the team, this will be monumental -especially if the OC Clippers decide to call Irvine, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, or the East side of Huntington Beach -all within our 74th Assembly District, their new home!!!
“I want to assemble a team of innovative business owners, religious and community leaders, public officials, fans and the Clippers organization to prepare a boni-fide proposal to straight-out invite the Clippers to come to Orange County! The OC has so much to offer the Clippers… I know what an amazing place we have; our beautiful neighborhoods, sandy beaches, strong business environment, competitive schools and established Major League teams. We must show the Clippers the power of second chances, the power of a new home in Orange County, and the power to become another basketball powerhouse for all of Southern California!!!”
“As your State Assembly representative in Sacramento, I’ll proudly serve the residents of Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods and Newport Beach. And I’ll look out for all of Orange County, from my birthplace in Santa Ana, to the home of the Angels and Ducks in Anaheim, from Fullerton’s Titans, to San Clemente’s Tritons. Bringing the Clippers to Orange County will stimulate our economy and be one more reason why we are the very best place to live in California. I ask you to join me, to bring together Orange County’s very best, to form a proposal to invite the Clippers to join our Orange County family. Contact me directly at or dial 714-360-2011.”

    Where would they play?

Hi, Robert! Thank you for asking, and you’re not alone, I am receiving multiple phone calls and emails of people excited about the idea of having the OC Clippers in our county! You know, this idea is really catching fire and people are getting as excited as I am about the possibilities!!! Ideally, the OC Clippers would play at the Great Park of Irvine, but if we’re to do the move immediately or in the near future, then, realistically, the OC Clippers would play at the Anaheim Convention Center or at the Anaheim Honda Center!!! I’d also love to hear your ideas of where you think they can play in Orange County?

Maybe we can play at Kobe Bryant’s house, he lives in Newport and has a basketball hoop!

DeAndre, thank you for commenting, but I’m sure Kobe and his family like their privacy! The more practical location for the OC Clippers wou I do be to play at the Honda Center in Anaheim, it’s ready to go!!! The people absolutely love the idea, and so do local business owners!!!
