74th State Assembly candidate Karina Onofre presents Task Force to move Clippers to Orange County
Irvine, California Friday May 23, 2014 State Assembly candidate Karina Onofre announced names of the blue-ribbon committee to move LA Clippers to Orange County.

Said Karina Onofre, “I’m proud to field an All-Star Orange County team, who like me, see the terrible mess created in L.A. by Clippers owner Donald Sterling as a once-in-a-lifetime moment for the Clippers to finally move to Orange County.”
Continued Onofre, “We’ve met with his organization, and hope Orange County resident Leigh Steinberg will come on board! Due to the upcoming NBA Draft, at this point, he could not commit to lead the OC Clippers Task Force, but I’m sure will want to participate.”
Leigh Steinberg, 65, is an attorney who has represented hundreds of athletes. In 1994, Steinberg Co-Chaired the “Save the Rams” committee to keep the franchise from leaving Orange County, and has been agent for over 60 first-round and 8 Number 1 overall NFL draft picks, a record never again equaled in professional sports.
Super-agent Steinberg has directed more than $700 million to charities all over the world, and was recognized by four different Presidents for community service and contribution to sports. Steinberg was also inspiration for “Jerry Maguire”, a 1996 romantic comedy-sports drama starring Tom Cruise, Cuba Gooding and Renée Zellweger.
Said Onofre, “OC Clippers Task Force has just started, but with today’s news that Donald Sterling wants to sell the Clippers, we don’t want to be late to the party!!! Individuals have placed their obligation as Orange County citizens first, before any personal interest!”
Members of Orange County Clippers Task Force are: Donald Craig, attorney and President of Orange County NAACP; Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait; Joyce Hall, Orange County Food Bank community activist; Lou Rossetti, Executive Director of Apartment Association of Orange County and former District Director for Congressman John Campbell; Jeff Shanton, Orange County business owner and Lakers fan; Katherine Daigle, community activist and candidate for Irvine Mayor; Jeff Belle, Senior Advisor, Public Policy; S. Deacon Alexander, President of L.A. Black Panther Association and former Green Party candidate for Governor; Max Trueblood, airline analyst and twenty-two year Clippers fan; Mirna Burciaga, community leader, activist and restaurant small business owner; Efrain Nuno, business owner and founding member of ADELSA (Asociacion de Empresarios Latinos de Santa Ana); Edgar Sebastian Vasquez, Telemundo reporter, founder of InterAmericana sports league and small business restaurant owner.
Onofre said, “We hope to include more members from Orange County’s business community.” When asked to address concerns Onofre’s involvement was a ploy to publicize her State Assembly bid, she replied, “Being a candidate helps magnify the fact that we in Orange County are on-fire-serious about bringing the Clippers to Orange County. I’ve invited my leading State Assembly opponent, Newport Beach Republican Keith Curry to join the Task Force! I hope he accepts.”
Also asked if she would step aside once Orange County Clippers Task Force is up and running, Onofre replied, “As my campaign gets closer to June 3rd Primary Election, this has really taken attention from me! But I will continue to balance my passion to be your State Assembly representative and my lifelong passion to have an NBA team in our hometown and bring the Clippers to Orange County! Contact me at karina@karinaonofre.com or 714-360-2011.”
